Apart from all the success, fame, wealth, glamour, link ups, and parties, the truth is that Paris' life has never been peaceful for that matter. She has always indulged herself to either one or the other controversy, may it be only for trying out something new in her professional career.
Let alone the few minor controversies which sprang up before she started off with singing and acting. Many criticisms followed by her bold step that Paris was just an amateur at these things and she would never be able to prove herself. All this soon, settled down once she came out in flying colors in almost all of her professional careers.
One of the major controversies in her early life was the release of the sex video with her boyfriend Rick Salmon. It was in the year 2003 when Paris was still not able to prove herself in her profession as well. The initial reaction was that it was a deliberate effort by Paris Hilton for public attention and it was all a game of publicity stunts. She then went on defending her self that she was in fact embarrassed with such an incident regarding her private life. There had to be a lot more on this now. It was released in DVD format with the most suitable title 1 Night in Paris. To this Paris had no option but to sue Rick Salmon who she thought was the master mind behind the whole issue. She rested the case in the year 2005, so the controversy actually dragged for a total of 2 years, which surely affected her professional as well as personal life. There was again a controversy regarding her receiving a sum of $400, 000 from the court on this case, whereas she completely refused and said that she had not earned anything on this case.
In the year 2006 she was into legal problems through a producer Brian Quintana who dispatched a restraining order, saying that he was harassed by Paris regarding one of their professional deals they were doing together.
She was under legal action in the year 2007 from the Sparta Florida Music Group, in the crime of plagiarism, as they wanted a justification to the similarity between her song "Stars are blind" and Kingston Town by Lord Creator.
But the most talked about and sizzling gossip was in fact the controversy of Paris' driving violations. In the month of September 2006, Paris was arrested driving with the alcohol level of 0.8%; because of this her driving license was suspended in the month of November, same year. She was punished with a fine of $1500 and 36 months probation period. In a period of a few months Paris was caught driving with a speed of 70 mph in a zone where only 35 mph was allowed, with a suspended driving license .Together with this, even though it was after dark she had all her headlights off.
Thus in May 2007, Paris was charged guilty of violating the traffic rules and her probation law as well. She was sentenced to jail for a period of 45 days by the judge
Michael T. Sauer. She tried to forward a petition but then it invited lots of complications and disorder with even more controversies on her side. She then decided to let go the appeal. And in June 20067 after attending the Mtv Movie Awards, she checked into the female jail in Lynwood, California.
